The Fircroft Art Exhibition, hosted by artist Frank Taylor and his wife Christine, celebrates its eighteenth year this June. Held at Fircroft, their home on Albury Heath, between Saturday 1st and Sunday 16th June, the event exhibits work from more than fifty established and emerging artists, all highly respected in their own field.
Inspired by recent trips to Sicily and Barcelona, host Frank Taylor will be showing new drawings, paintings and prints, along with some large photographic images.
Paul Jones returns to Fircroft following successful exhibitions at Dorchester and Salisbury museums. Paul sets fire to his paintings and manipulates the paint to achieve a remarkable surface that reflects the textures and views of the Dorset Coast.
Several eminent ceramicists are represented in the show. The work ranges from the functional and beautifully decorated domestic ware of Pru Green, Kevin Warren
and Chris Bull, to the more sculptural or decorative pieces by Anthony Theakston, Sue Bruce, Nigel Eveleigh, Carolyn Tripp, Jane Silk, Sophie Smith and
Lise B Moorcroft. In addition there are new ceramic sculptures and wall plaques by John Maltby, widely recognised as this country’s leading ceramic sculptor.
In the mature wooded garden are metal sculptures by Yorkshire artists Steve Blaylock and Darrell Evanes, Brighton-based Chris Cain and Somerset’s George Hider, alongside stone sculptures by Dominic Benhura, Nesbert Mukomberanwa and other leading African Sculptors.
Several silversmiths and jewellers, including award-winning contemporary designers Jane Angel and John Moore, are showing a huge range of lively, contemporary work.
Frank and Christine are always warm, welcoming hosts and their home provides a beautiful setting for these wonderful artworks.
Entry is free. Saturday 1st June – Sunday 16th June. Daily 11-5pm, Thursdays 11-8pm.
