Heard a Cuckoo yet?

The sound of the Cuckoo is one of the sure signs that Spring has arrived. At this time of the year I ask if visitors to the site have heard its call yet and get some interesting replies from all over the country, so please let me know – Have you heard the call of the Cuckoo yet this Spring?

Here in the Surrey Hills we heard the first call on Sunday 27th April, a little later than last year  (22nd April). The first of our summer swallows have also arrived, with the advance party spotted perched our TV ariel chattering away on 19th April. They are like clockwork turing up on or around the 21st of April each year.
