Fircroft Art Exhibition 2010

Albury Heath is a popular and secluded area of the Surrey Hills between Guildford and Dorking, each year it plays host to the annual Fircroft Art Exhibition.
Fircroft is home to international exhibited artist Frank Taylor and his wife Christine . This ‘open house’ gallery is a wonderful setting in which to discover works by more than forty highly regarded artists. The quality of the exhibits combined with the relaxed ambience of the Taylor’s home makes Fircoft a highlight of the summer calendar.
Fircroft 2010 will be the fifteenth annual exhibition and includes work by painters, sculptors, ceramicists, print makers and jewellers as well as artists working in glass and textiles.
New to Fircroft this year is Hannah Firmin who illustrates the covers of Alexander McCall Smith’s series of ‘The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency’ books. Hannah is daughter of printmaker Peter Firmin who created, with Oliver Postgate, characters such as the Clangers and Bagpuss. She recently contributed to ‘The Birthday Book’, a collection of prose and poetry edited by Quentin Blake and Michael Morpurgo, published to celebrate Prince Charles’ sixtieth birthday.
John Maltby – widely recognised as one of Britain’s finest ceramicists – will be showing new ceramic sculptures. His sought after work is represented in collections at the V&A in London and the Ashmolean in Oxford. Lisa B Moorcroft, grand daughter of William Moorcroft, will be displaying her unique ceramics and Steve Blaylock who made the ship for the Blue Peter garden as well as large pieces for the The Forestry Commission will also be one of the sculptors exhibiting in the gardens.
Frank Taylor will exhibit new paintings and prints that he has created throughout his career. Frank’s limited edition prints have always been extremely popular and his open editions have sold in tens of thousands.
Also exibiting will be Libby January, a leading pastel artist, figurative sculptors Jo Jones and Olivia Ferrier, ceramicists Pru Green, Christine Bull, Wendy Fowler, and Christine Suzman who also works in bronze specialising in horses and wildlife. There will also be work in glass by Deborah Timperley and Karen Cole .
The jewellery exhibits always prove very popular. This year Fircroft brings together pieces by Roger Elliot, Jane Angel, Misha Seelhoff, Kym Diederich, Lousia Crispin, Theresa MacIntyre, Miranda Weber, Sue Cox, Sian Burridge and the Cloud Nine group of jewellers.
Top Zimbabwean sculptors will also be represented, alongside work from Indian Textiles Worker projects.
