Sussex Beef Meat Boxes in the Surrey Hills
Meat Boxes from Upper Woodhill Farm are now available. Those of you who are regular visitors to this site will know that over the last two years we have been following Andrew Cameron as he establishes his herd of pedigree Sussex cattle. The cattle in Andrew’s herd were all born and raised at Upper Woodhill Farm in the heart of the Surrey Hills close to Shamley Green. You can follow his story in the ‘FARMING’ category on this site.
Registered with the Sussex Cattle Society, the animals are fed an entirely natural diet of grass, silage and hay. Sussex beef is marbled, it is hung for 28 days and the result is a quality, tender meat that is full of flavour.
Originating from the Weald of Sussex, Surrey and Kent, Sussex cattle are one of the oldest breeds in Britain. They have a distinctive rich red-brown coat, with a creamy white switch to the tail and are well known for their gentle temperament. They are hardy and live outside throughout the year in the fields surrounding the farm.
The care and welfare of his cattle is a priority for Andrew who uses Jody Scheckter’s Lavistock Park abattoir, a state of the art facility designed to reduce the animal’s stress to the absolute minimum.
The meat boxes come in 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 or even a whole animal. For up to the minute prices see www.upperwoodhillfarm.co.uk.
If you would like to tailor the cuts in your meat box, if want more mince for example, Andrew can do so on a pre-ordered basis. He only sells beef from his herd so it is possible that boxes may not always be available immediately, if this is the case, you can pre book your box or he can notify you when one is available.
Andrew delivers the meat boxes locally, fresh or frozen.
Please call 01483 890654 or e-mail Andrew at andrew@upperwoodhillfarm.co.uk to order your box.
